Default first jeep. 97 xj

well, bought my first jeep. i've wanted one for quite awhile. i bought a 97 xj 2 door 4wd 4.0 automagic 100% stock. 130k miles. arrest me red. base model (i assume). absolutely 0 rust anywhere and few dents/dings i think i can easily remove. it has brown interior, with a console. it has (all functioning):

power mirrors
tilt wheel
a/c
cruise

i bought it with a bad alternator, just got a new one on it tonight. also replaced the battery and cable clamps. recent investigation reveals it has a fairly new radiator and upper rad hose. it was purchased by the state and used at a local correctional facility. i bought it from a friend who has a dealer license and buys from state auctions. he bought 8 jeeps haha.

it needs a headliner, steering wheel, and the driver's seat bolster repaired. as of now there is nothing stopping me from driving it. came with damn near new goodyear wrangler tires and matching spare. found the oringal owner's manual and all paperwork, even the very first state vehice registration from 5-27-97. i plan on repainting the wheels a gunmetal color, all the trim, bumpers, grill, and headlight bezels black. i found the missing lugnut cover in the back seat. also the rear view mirror was back there.

well i put about 120 miles on it today. drives surprisingly solid for a 15 year old vehicle with a bunch of factory stock parts on it. rides a little rougher than i expected, but i guess having live axles suspended and a fairly short wheelbase will do that.

seems to have a bit of a clunk in the front end somewhere. every now and again i noticed it on the highway. i don't think it's steering related as it has never done it while turning at any speed or terrain. i'll have to dig into it this weekend and see what's up. i had planned on an alignment anyhow as the steering wheel is a touch off. mise well throw some new front end parts on it beforehand.
