Default Finally found a nice 4x4 XJ

Hi all,
New to the forum but not to the XJ.

Recently picked up a nice new to me 2000 Cherokee Limited 4x4 with 176000.
Sttill have my old 99 2wd with 398,000, which has been in our family since 05, but I really was missing having a 4x4.

Im a little bummed it is a 00, but honestly dont care that much as I finally have the means and time to make it right and dependable.

Anyway, thought I would share the truck and get involved on this forum as I will be doing other things to it to make it a nice daily and the occasional national park back country trails here in Texas.

Looks mint. Not sure what you dislike about the 2000 XJ. Best year IMO.

just the weak head issue and smaller exhaust ports is all really, but like I said not a huge deal.

I see one plus.
It is a Federal Emissions '00. No dual cat. Just a Y pipe and 2 O2 sensors.
Is the Up Country Suspension sticker legit?
To bad up about the D35 with the anti lock brakes but.....

If there's no rust nothing else matters.

Yup federal emissions. And yeah, factory Up Country with the tow package, and trac loc. I couldn't pass it up.
It’s a regular country in the rear now with the leafs going inverted

Definitely a great find. MY2000 fed emissions is rare all by itself, let alone in that red color.

I wouldn't sweat the weak head. Just keep the cooling system in top shape, and keep an eye on coolant level. An obviously decreasing level can only be a cracked head or a leaking heater core. I suppose it could also be a leaking hose clamp, but those easy to spot. And if you ask me, changing a head is no more difficult than changing out a heater core, and everyone has to do the heater core sooner or later.

Don't know if you can still buy them but I bought some for my '00 that does not have the Up Country Suspension sometime ago.
Not cheap and don't come with the bushings.
Got a really good replica of the sticker some guy on here made and figure use a spacer to level her out.
Just a DD and the coils were not even available back then anyway anymore.
Like maxbraketorque said. I wouldn't worry about the head till or when you have to.
Bought my '00 with a 145K 15 years ago and best I can tell I am fine still.
