Detroit's newest [soon to be] XJ owner
Hello everyone,
I've been looking at some local XJ's to purchase for myself as a daily driver. Currently, I am leasing a vehicle, but that's going to be over in a few months. I have narrowed my search down to a couple XJ's and this is the one that I am leaning towards.
It's a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport with 129K miles and it looks very, very clean, inside and out. One thing that the seller warns me about is the fact that it doesn't have a catalytic converter (something a previous owner must have removed). The Jeep seems to be in pretty good overall condition. Everything works as expected, so I am probably going to make an offer this weekend. The seller is asking for $4300.
I am not completely new to XJ's, however. About 10 years ago (when I was 20), my girlfriend owned one and I drove it a lot. We did, unfortunately, end up in a rollover accident in Michigan and totaled the Jeep. I wasn't too experienced of a driver at that time and I was definitely in a hurry...trying to pass a semi on my right in pouring rain, I lost control, hydroplaned, hit the divider wall, rolled multiple ties over it and landed on my feet. I have a huge scar that reminds of it every single day. This incident also has me a bit nervous about getting this very same Jeep again. Since then (and partly because of this event) I have become a much safer driver. I hope that this this time around I will have much better luck!
Here's a couple of photos too!

welcome to the site! Cat converters are only important if you live in a state or county that requires emissions testing. If you dont live in an area like that then you should be good! It may throw a code or somethin but nothing bad will happen. Price sounds reasonable.
