Default Cape Cod XJ

Hey guys, I'm a current 2011 2D JK Sahara owner.....and will hopefully buying a 2000 4D XJ for my GF son for his first vehicle. (Pending everything pans out well.) This will be an in town vehicle for him, for school, work, and getting through our winters. So I did do a search and but didn't navigate well enough to find a sticky or buyer beware section for the XJs and model years. (Please excuse Noob failed search attempt.) What are some specific concerns I need to be aware about with this year and check?

Details on the XJ, (yet to see it person, going this weekend) body from pic looks good no signs of rust or damage. It's been painted in a Bedliner which looks real nice from the pics. AC doesn't work, seller says he thinks it's the compressor. I know AC fixes on XJs can be a very expensive fix. I'm not all that concerned junior can just put the windows down. 😉

-110k,
-New: Radiator, Alternator, Optima Battery, Coil packs, 110W lights
-Emu Full rear suspension, 3" lift
-Tires with 10k miles
-Very clean rear end, no metal shavings,
-smooth shifting and 4x4 works great.
-Oil leaks little from head gasket but not burning any oil. Mobil1 synthetic always used

The 0331 heads were an issue from 2000-2001. They tend to crack. So I'd look out for that being an issue if it hasn't already been replaced.

And welcome to the forum!

So it didn't work out the guy actually sold it before we could get out to see it. We were advised we were the first to call and would get the first chance to make an offer on it. Real poor form on his part. Oh well the search continues...
