Can i get some suggestions on inexpensive routes to go on parts like the lunch box type lockers and what not. And the order i should get the parts (Tires and size, lift (type),snorkel, shocks, lockers, and so on. I;m not a rich man so i need to buy smart. I live in the Miami area so there is A LOT of mud and water.

Cherokee's are XJ's I'm not sure if that's what you meant? but MPG really is decided on the gearing. A guy with stock gearing and 33's is going to get really bad MPG compared to the guy with 33's and 4.56 gearing but I'm sure you knew that. So if you wanted better MPG then your tahoe and be able to DD I would say a 3" lift with 30" or 31"s and you will still have ok MPG and it will look better than stock. It depends on what you want to do with it offroad. And if you have the money for regearing.

I've heard of that too I'm not sure how they do that. I have 31's on stock gearing and I get roughly 12, 13 mpg and that is all mountain driving, If you keep it stock you could for sure get 20.

I vote for the XJ, but I may be a little biased.

as everyone else has said. MPGs is determined by a couple thing. I run 33s on stock gears. most of my driving is 50+ MPH roads, and I'm getting about 15+. You can get an build a nice XJ easily for under 7,000.

I got my XJ for 700
Tires and rims for 500
lift cost me under 200 (3" lift)
front locker 270
other little things under 300

these things are awesome.
