Hi all, I,m a newbe jeep owner of a 2001 grand cherokee. 6,000 miles ago I replaced the front universal. Now it has loossened up. The straps are tight. Any ideas? Tnanks in advance. Bob

Welcome, by universalI assume you me the U joint? Id check the c-clips and make sure one or more havent popped out or forgot to get put in. Good luck

I checked the c clips. They're both intact. Are all 4 bearing cups the same size ? This is for the front transfer case.

Welcome to the Forum. I do not know much about the Grand Cherokees but I had one of the flanges (where the u-joint sits coming from transfer case.. cant think of the name for some reason right now lol) wear out so much the joint was wobbling quite a bit on my XJ.

We changed the ujoint straps & it solved the problem. Whoo-ray!! Thanks for your input guys. I'll be lurking around the site now & then. Bye
