I've been on for a while but never have started a build thread. I have a 99 XJ with 4WD conversion that was done a few months ago. I have a old style NP 231 (1991) and Dana 30 (1991). I went from a 3 inch lift to a 7 inch lift. I decided against a Long Arm kit and went with a control arm drop instead. No regrets on it. 33x12.5x15 Cooper Discoverer STT 3.55 gears....going to 4.88 next week AIRAID Air filter Jet Performance Chip Stage 2 Rustys PreRunner Bumper Harbor Freight 12000 lbs Winch VIAIR System Rubicon Express 7.5 Inch coils Fox Shocks Procomp Trackbar- about to go to KOR track bar conversion Rough Country CAD Rough Country's (Tie rod, Control arms, Discos, 4.5 inch leaf springs, 2 inch shackle, CV Driveshaft and SYE) Power Stop Brakes 50 inch light bar Hooligan Off-road light bar mounts Novak TCase Cable Shifter. 99 XJ 4WD Conversion-image-3145836101.jpg

Nice looking rig. Looks like we had the same ideas on the Viair location right down to the gauge next to the shifter.

Welcome to the forum.

I plan on getting ARB lockers but that's kinda pricy right now. And possibly putting a train horn also.

I did the ARB's and it works great with them. I picked up an inline 90 PSI regulator and a small filter to run inline for them so I didn't blow them up with 150 PSI. One other thing I learned is that you need a British Pipe Thread adapter to connect to the solenoids. I read that it's close enough to NPT for it to work with enough pipe dope. I tried but of course it leaked for me. Viair has a two pack Part No. 90001 for $5 or $6. Well worth it.

What gears do you have? Because I'm about to put 4.88 in and I think I should buy better axles shafts if I put ARBs in.

I am running 4.56 with 33's. I upgraded everything to 30 spline chromoly shafts.

I mentioned this in my build thread but 4.56 have me running about 2,700 on the highway and the drone can be deafening with a relatively quite DynoMax Turbo Muffler. My buddy runs 4.56 with his 36's and he's happy. He's down under 2,500 at 70. We both have 4:1 kits though so off-road is stupid low when we need it. 4.88's would be too low for me but it all depends on what you want.

Sounds like you're probably already hooked up with the parts but I can get you a quote on the gears and ARB's and all if you want. Just let me know what you're looking for. If not, no big deal.
