'99 and '98 owner from Alberta
New to the forums but I have owned a '99 Cherokee Sport for about 4 years now. I'm the third owner, purchased from my dad previously. It was a lease return to a dealership. While my '99 isn't exactly high mileage (203,XXXkm/126,XXXmiles), I had been casually looking for a complete parts vehicle for it for a few months. I have this thing where I like to have a donor car for the ones I drive. Basically I was looking for a complete Cherokee that couldn't pass provincial inspection etc or had some minor issues that the owner didn't want to deal with any longer.
I was contacted by a girl with a '98. Much higher mileage (307,000km/191,000mi) but complete, no rust but she tagged a concrete barrier with the LF corner and took out the bumper and tweeked the fender pretty good. Runs great but she claims the rad needs to be replaced as it will overheat after driving for a while. She's had the water pump, heater core, alt, battery and axle (one side she claims) all replaced over the last 2 years. I'm hoping that it isn't a bad head gasket but for the purchase price, I can't complain. It comes with all the receipts, 2 sets of newer tires (winter and all season) and some other small parts. Basically what I bought it for is the same price as a set of middle of the road winter tires for my '99. I can sell off the all seasons as I just bought a set for my '99 and after that, I'm in the black by a few hundred dollars and the rest of the Jeep is gravy.
I don't have pics of my '99 handy, it's red/burgundy, 4 door with fog lights and some of the optional extras. It's been a fantastic vehicle so far and I see myself and my wife driving it for many more years, especially now that I have the part donor. Anyway, enjoy some pics of the parts donor.
