Hey CF I bought a 96 xj country for a steal last month. Yall helped me with the rear shocks diffs and case fluids. awesome!
Have a couple questions though.
1.The guy swapped out the np242 with a np231 which I thought was awesome however, what is the difference in the drive components (weaker axle or anything I should know about?).
2. Xj sits really low and has 195/65's. Want to get a lift but with a good ride and handling too. Was looking at RC 3" lift
3. I'll need tires too was looking at 235/75's BFG's.
4. What does a transfer case drop do with a lift kit?
5. I have a dana35 could I still do the kj rear disc swap?
only pic I got was working in the dash when it started raining. still gotta get the 3m stuff off from the old bug deflector that broke

Welcome from Charlotte, NC.
1. The 231 has part time 4wd and 2wd. The 242 tcase has fulltime and part time 4wd aswell as the 2wd option. The 231 is technically stronger, but that is debatable. It does have better aftermarket support. It also has nothing to do with your axles.
2. I really dont have any comment on the RC lift except that its a pretty rough ride, other than that I have no experience on them. Just what my buddy has on his jeep. If its sagging I suggest you get full leaf packs though as an add a leaf tends to sag down eventually.
3. If you are gonna do the 3 inch lift, Id run 31x10.50x15 but thats just me.
4. A Tcase drop is used to drop the transmission crossmember a bit. It basically fixes driveline angles caused by the lift. In all honesty Id just get a slip yoke eliminator off the bat if its your daily driver. But that is debatable aswell.
5. For a disc brake swap you can use ZJ stuff. Im not sure about KJ brakes. I think a guy on NAXJA might have done it, but I don't know for sure. I have helped a friend do a ZJ disc brake swap and can say for sure it is a direct bolt on besides the parking brake.
