Hello everyone who views this introduction! My father purchased a $300 XJ 2 door manual 4.0 H.O 4x4 1994 model sight unseen as he was ill and in the hospital. When he arrived home and seen it, he was shocked at what he had received and instantly started compiling parts lists for it. He lasted a week at home before needing to go back to the hospital where days later he passed on. I now have this Jeep and would like to build it up as i will keep it forever along with everything else he gave to me over the years. I plan on taking many pictures and starting a thread in the appropriate forum section titled <The $300 XJ build. I came to this forum to learn from ya'll and build friendships over the joys and pains of owning an XJ. Thanks for reading my book and i look forward to picking your brains! -yesternow

That doesn't look anywhere near in need of restoration, just some TLC (& routine maintenance of course) - but it's your Jeep (time, money, effort, blood, sweat &, yes, tears).
I want to take care of the steering components as well as the dent and dings in it. I have no clue what lift it has.... Its on 31' tires and im wanting to take it to 33' so if additional lift is needed i will probably get a RC4.5" the $1500 one unless something better or equal is recommended. I have to do something about the seats because it sat somewhere for a good bit and the rear seat has those two holes chewed into it. From what ive read the fact that its a 94 2 door my seat options are limited so im probably doing the rough country seat covers. I found a brand new set of solid diff covers locally for $60 so i plan on building up the axles to 4.56 or 4.88... I dont know what the best ratio for 33's would be. Right now on the 31's the shift light in 4'th gear doesnt come on until i hit about 55mph but once i get into 5'th its a dog. I appreciate your comment on the xj man! I already have a eag front winch bumper and a 12k pound winch thats going on it. Its getting new paint, a rear tire carrier, the eag side steps, 62mm throttle body and the spacer kit unless that doesnt help anything? New injectors and the RC cold air intake. Just wait till i show yall the rigged up cold air system on it now lol Tinting it, adding a light bar and two square lights and an all the sound system. This was dad's style and mine as well so im sure he would be happy that i chose this route with it. So far i replaced the cps (funny story behind that) the blower motor and resistor .... New alternator , idler pulley, serpentine belt and an oil change and radiator flush. I hand washed it once and took it to the car wash once since getting it. What you see is how it came minus the booster seats for my twin boys and the tools i have in it right now. I actually leave my nice truck at home now and drive this xj everywhere. It runs great but the front end is clunky at times and high speeds sometimes produce a bad wobble. Sorry for such a long reply but this should give everyone an idea of what my intentions are with this build. OH i ordered an xj cluster off ebay with rpm's and oil pressure and whatnot! I hate watching for that shift lever!!! I have owned several 5 spd's and always know when the shift but my instincts on shifting this thing tell me to shift like 3 seconds after the shift light so i need a tach to see where im shifting.
Received wisdom is to avoid RC stuff ('though some say they've improved in recent years) & go for Zone in that price bracket.
Front seats are going to be a problem, but I'd have thought the back one was the same as the 4-door & that colour/pattern is quite common, so getting rid of your bite marks should only take a little time & patience.
Depending on how much of the steering/front suspension is replaced with the lift kit parts, those mods. you have in mind are unlikely to cure the clunking & wobble, so my advice (free - & worth what you paid for it) is to address those issues first.
Oh, & those diff covers are as big a steal as the original purchase - lucky you!
If you're not going to start a build tread -as I originally suggested, at least put a line under this one & just stick to your other one.
