Just bought my first Jeep a couple of weeks ago. It is a '97 Grand Cherokee Laredo and got it for $1,200. Has 279,000 miles on it. The tranny and transfer case went at 200,000 and replaced with lower mileage ones. The bottom of the lift gate is rusted out and the windshield is cracked. Other than that everything works. Two days after getting it, it would not start and that ended up being the distributer. I am very little mechanically inclined, so had the mechanic figure that one out. I will only be driving this in town a few times a week as my main ride is an '07 Dodge Magnum R/T. There is one thing that is annoying me about the Jeep though. It has a continuous squeal to it when running. The belt looks good, and clean. It also seems to be tight enough, but not too tight. Therefore, I'm wondering how can I determine what is causing this?
