That is up to you. If you think you will be upgrading the alternator beyond 150 amps then 2 gauge is certainly recommended.

My problem is my guy who is going to rebuild and up the amps on a stock alternator can't really be sure where it will end up when he is done. When he checked into what could or could not be done he said it might end up being as much as 150 amps. Now I seriously doubt it will go over that but he made it sound like we do what we can and see where we end up type of thing. I am just afraid that if he does a better job then he expected it could end up over 150 and thus should probably run the 2 gauge. Figure if I just go with 2 gauge I am covered. Better overkill and spend money then the other alternative.

That would make the most sense in that situation to go with 2 gauge then

Just to clarify, this just replaces the positive cable on the starter correct? I've seen people talk about modifying a green wire to it to get it working? I have a '99 if that matters. From what i've seen, no modification would need to be done but I just need to be sure. Thank you!

My cables replace everything on the battery & charging system which includes the starter cable.

On pre-99 4.0's. U ll need to modify the solenoid wire but on 99 and up. U won't need to

Mine has the positive cable and then a separate plug. That's the only thing I was a bit confused about. I'm guessing once I open up that main harness loom it'll be a cakewalk. Thanks for the clarification.

That's correct. My 99 has that type, you won't need to modify anything.

Just brought a 96 home and the battery cables are a mess, what do I need to replace both of the cables?

Anything you need to know on a 2001 4.0 Auto XJ Sport? How long to get the cables from you?

Yes. Are you planning to upgrade the alternator or keeping it stock?

My usual lead time has been 2 weeks before I ship them out, often a lot less than that though.
