Looks good for racing but how about the torque for crawling?

I asked the mechanic that built this motor and he said you needed to run at least 100 octane. Blows my mind cause what little I did run it I'm sure the octane wasn't that high.

I'm newer to the Jeep world only 2 yrs but close to 50 yrs of Drag Racing and a short stint at Circle Track.

I am in the market for an engine for my XJ and want a stroker.....But I may have to have one built or one rebuilt to my spec. That being one that needs nothing higher than 91 oct. as race gas has really gotten out of hand. I have to buy some 119 for my Dart block (400) 381 ci./head SBC for a race tune Twin Tubro's, air to water inter-cooled injected 1290HP concretive race tune (dyno) to 617HP 91 oct street tune.

I don't want to have to buy fuel for the XJ that I use 20 gal of on a weekend of even 110 oct.

Are you sure that the engine wasn't damaged by not running race fuel?? If you had bought race fuel you would have remembered it for sure at $12.45 a gal here now for 119. Is the engine still in the Jeep, if so have you checked the compression since you last ran it?

Thanks for your time just wish I could stop by and have a look but, to farrrr.

A stroker doesn't require you to use racing fuel to run it. Depending on elevation and the build specs the highest you could have to run is mid-grade gas. Mine runs just fine with 87 octane and its a similar build.

I understand that and have checked on several so far using Eagle and Scat crank and rods with pistons, a balanced rotating assemblys.

It all depends on compression ratio and spec's of engine he stated 100 oct.

All I have ever ran were stroker motors the one in my wagon now is 381ci. with 8.25-1 CR using forced induction 23 psi. needing 119 oct.. To a street motor in my DD a 364ci. 10-1 CR roller motor 93 oct. 550hp.

It all depends on the "SPECS"

I understand where your coming from i've just never seen or heard of any 4.6 stroker builds that required that high of octane gas. I could be wrong but i'm guessing he told the guy that his stroker was going in a race jeep and the machinist recommended higher octane for better performance of the engine. But as I said im just guessing because i've almost never seen a build need that high of octane.

Exactly. Thanks. Anywho. It's still for sale at half the price.

Thanks so much JakeWI. I guess I priced it so low that it makes it look strange. Or maybe I don't know enuff about it cause I'm not a mechanic to answer the questions. I just had it built. Lol. But like I said thanks mods.
