Installing a new Yukon 4.88 gearset in my HP Dana 30, and trying to clarify proper backlash. Factory service manual states .005-.008, but the Yukon install manual says .010-.015, which is significantly looser.
Suggestions? I will give Yukon a call on this as well.

I located an older version of the Yukon install manual which states .006-.008 for backlash, which sounds much better.
Waiting on response from Yukon. Any thoughts?

Yukon tech support first immediately said .006-.010, then got a bit stumped by the .010-.015 range listed on their new manual. Then they said as long as the pattern looks good in the .006-.015 range then should be fine.
The new manual actually has 3 listings- Dana 30, Dana 30 JK, and Dana 30 JL. The backlash for the D30 JK and D30 JL both are .006-.010, the one listed as just D30 is .010-.015.
FSM says 5-8, everywhere else says around 6-8 or 6-10 so that's what I'm going for!
