Default XJ Running Boards - Nerf Bars - Side Steps

For those of you that have them, I'd like to see a few pics and or recommendations. My dear old Grand Dad and Kids need just a bit of help gettting in and out of my XJ.

GoRhino, Rugged Ridge and Westin look like they have classic tubular bars within mini pads on them (that's what I'm leaning towards). Nerf Bars are a nice touch, I just haven't seen anything that looks too tasteful.

If you wheel would go with some rock sliders with "kickers" that stick out a little further and add some skateboard grip tape or something to them.

otherwise if you don't wheel in the rocks, or ground clearance isnt an issue, you can go with any of bars that are advertised as step bars or whatever. I dont have any experience with them except that they will fold with one rock hit, and love to rust after a few years.

These are what are on my XJ, I hate them. if my rig was lifted they would be OK, but for now all they do is help get me stuck.

Get rid of them. You'll take a look at your rig and realize that it was a great idea. If I'm wrong...then just bolt them back on!

The thing is with step bars, they tend to stick out more than sliders, so they snag onto much more, hit more rocks, and probably cause more harm then help. My buddy got his torn right off because they stuck out too much (nasty sight).

Sliders hug the body more and are built stronger. Check out JCR or Tomken. JCR makes some pretty sweet looking ones, and their products are built to last

If they are not in the way, paint them black. It will blend in with the lower body pretty nice.

Thanks also gave that a thought, but before lift I nearly got completely bogged down in Mud with no one around to tow etc, I think if they had not had been on would of got out easier.
Cheers.
