Would A Torque Converter Make A Difference?
Hello new to the website, So i have a 88 Jeep xj with a shift kit, Im from the west coast so we usually do sand drags in 100 yards i run 13” Paddle tires and 31” tires in the front cutt & shaved for better traction its a 4.2 stroker with a 250 shot of nitrous i was just curious if you can add an aftermarket torque converter for better launches. all motor I usually launch around 3500-3800 rpms When i spray its usually around 2500-2800. Im really curious to know as ive never really heard of anybody running aftermarket TQ Please and Thankk youu

Welcome
I haven't seen a sand drag XJ yet so I am requesting pictures because it sounds awesome. Videos would be even better lol
That may be something that needs to be custom built by a performance transmission shop. But I don't know if it can actually be done. Of course they make high stall converters for popular transmissions in drag racing but i wouldn't call these popular. Make some calls to some shops and see what you can find out
How are you launching at such a higher than stock stall speed now?

Yea i figured i have tried a handful of shops in arizona and california but no luck no one really works on these thats why i wanted to try the forum out. And i really would not know how to answer that question the wiring is simplified just the essentials i would need (water pump, nos, ignition, etc) with a open computer i have a super big cam in it and it pushes through the brakes the torque converter is the stock ones they sell u at o reily or autozone with the 31s all around i hit about 5.20-5.12et on 100 yards in sand with nitrous its about 4.93-4.86et the fastest in the region currently is around 4.64 spraying way more than 300 easily but here are some clips for you guys
