Default wj brake upgrade question?

I have been searching the upgrade and I may tackle it soon. Does anyone know if you can run a 15" rim with the upgrade?

From my understanding, you can....but not with stock backspacing. You would need 4" or less backspacing. You can also grind down the outer housing a bit on the calipers. But I woudl be leery of grinding too much..heh.

See that is what I was unsure about. I wonder if the Teaves "smaller" are not as strong.

strong? as in what sense?

the akebonos are bigger and on paper will stop better.

will you notice a difference? probably not.

By strong I ment stopping power. So if I went with the Teaves I would more than likely be ok on the 15" wheels.

with a good amount of backspacing, yes.

you'll also need to upgrade to the larger brake booster (if you have ABS you already have it) to make this even a remotely effective upgrade.

I'm gathering my parts from a liberty w/ ChryCo 8.25 should bolt on w/no grinding. there is work to Ebrake and brake fluid lines required, but thats part of the game and half the fun. Good luck and Semper Fi.

I'm looking at upgrading the brakes on my 85. I don't plan on doing a disc swap for the rear yet but would putting the WJ booster in my XJ make any difference or do I need to up the size of the stock rotors as well? I know going bigger on the rotors will help but I'm piece mealing one section at a time. And since my XJ needs the brake system flushed I'd swap the booster and MC out first and do the rotors later.
