I suggest buying a used Warn M8000 on CL and clean it up.

I wish I'd done sooner and not wasted money on other brands.

I run a Bulldog. Not too big, and not the Warn name brand, but plenty of power.

+2.

Having done this twice, this is always what I recommend, and continue to do myself.

I would say it came off of at least a Duce and a Half, could be wrong.

Learn to use pullies as a reduction aid...

Get a come-a-long, multiple straps and several pullies until you can afford a good quality winch and upgrade your alternator / battery....

I still carry a come-a-long and have a warn winch... Used both recently in a side hill rescue..

I had a cheap Badlands 12k from harbor freight on my JK with 37s and coilovers. It drug me out of a lot of crap. It did break once, split the case, and harbor freight handed me a new one. I know this might not be your experience, but I was pleased with it.

I now have a Warn M8000

I got it from Quadratec for $465 on their 70% sale. I couldnt pass it up at that price. I shopped the Badland winches, but they aren't as cheap as they were 4 years ago. I think I only had $219.99 invested on my 12k.
