do you have to make a base plate to put a winch on the stock front bumper(98 cheroke sport) ive seen some people have theres like that

 

Not 100% sure what you mean but yes. You need to beef it up quite a bit.

 

Stock bumper won't hold a winch but Detours makes a kit so you can keep the stock bumper and have a winch. Warn also makes the transformer brush guards that work with a winch. Stock bumper is not much more than tin foil.
