When should I swap my motor/ tranny out?
my 1990 jeep cherokee has 321090 miles on it. still runs great but i recently received an offer for a motor and tranny with only 93k miles on it. im just trying to get some opinions on if i should buy it or not.

Buy it, put new gaskets/rear main, and valve seals on it and store it for when your current work horse finally give up the ghost.

That's how I would do it... So long as the engine wasn't out of a 00+ Cherokee. Swap it out when the current motor dies, rebuild the old motor, swap it out again when the new one goes. You'll have a Cherokee for life.

Amen to that. As long as its not from 1999-2001 I'd hold on to that gem and just wait it out. If you get a catastrophic failure at some point, you are loaded for bear. I know its a big hunk of iron to have sitting around your garage, but you will be happy with it some day.
I had a 2000 engine, cracked the head, built a 1994, best move I ever made.
