Default wheel backspace question... 15x7 and 15x8

ok so i am pretty positive I am going with the 4.5 x series lift kit. I have a set of 31's im going to throw on for now til i can go 32's maybe next spring. I have been looking around at wheels and most seem to have 4" of backsspacing... looking into the cragar soft 8's or the American racing AR-767 wheels. thought im thikning im going the cheaper route with the cragars....

anyway RC recommends 4.5 of backspace. I see alot of people running these with 4. if I were to go 15x8 with the 4 backspace would that work without rubbing. I am trying to stay away from trimming, hence why i may just stick with the 31's with the taller kit.

thanks for any info.

It'll still work, the tires will be just as far from the inside parts with a 8 inch wheel as they will with a 7 inch wheel with the same backspacing. The offset will be different however, making the tire slightly further out of the fender

im just wondering if i want to keep with a 7" to keep from possible rubbing while flexing, thats my concern, i just dont want to hack my jeep up. planning on keeping the fender flares on it, actaully im going to replace them with another stock set... cause glaval got lazy and only painted the showing part white... underneath the bumper they are black.

You prolly won't rub with either width wheel with 4"bs at 4.5" lift and 31's. Theres no way to know for sure unless you bolt them up though, they very well may rub at full flex

i run 4.5 " backspacing on BlackRock wheels . a great wheel and very inexpensive . they will custom make any wheel you want with the backspacing you ask for . cant beat that ... and the look good as well . and have never rubbed while wheeling running 31's as well .
