8.25 and 9" are 2 immensely different axles.
29 spline 8.25's started about halfway through production in 96. I believe 00-01 are the only ones with disc brakes so one of those would be my choice.

8.8 is a rear axle. Locked 35's up front I'd go for a 44 swap.
A 44/9 combo on 35's would be killer if you could swing it. I'd guess you're lookin at about $3000 before steering and wheels and tires
You're gonna want some 4.88's or 5.13's

Your listing rear axles, all of them. The 8.25 will be a direct swap in, the 8.8 will take fab work. You *should* be able to get away with 35s locked on a 29 spline 8.25, as long as your gentle.

If you put money into your current front axle, it will handle 35s if your gentle.

Didn't they put 44s in the front end of the 4 banger TJs? An 8.8 out of a 4x4 explorer should have 4.10s and LSD

No. They did not.

They were D30s until the Rubicons. And IIRC the Rubi's didnt have true 44s.

4cyl TJs did come with 4.10 gears, tho.

If you cant do the fab work yourself stick with a later model 8.25. It will be the easiest as its a direct bolt in swap.
