Question What steering setup do I go with

Ok, I got a 3" lift up front of my 99 xj, and I want to upgrade my steering linkage to a heavy duty one, and go up another inch to 4" of lift up front. Do I need to get a drop pitman arm and adjustable track bar? Im just not sure what setup is best. Thanks for any help I can get.

I would go IRO's double sheer adjustable trackbar and then either the V8 ZJ steering set up (lower cost) or SeriousOffroad's. Frank's (seriousoffroad) is pretty beast and is on my wishlist. here's the link

A drop pitman arm is not needed.

I'd go full crossover steering running heims. Thats what I feel is worth making and selling anyways. 1-1/4" solid hex steel and 7/8s Ruffstuff chromoly heims. Mount it over or under the knuckle, no need for a drop pitman arm and absolutely no chance of developing a dead spot. Combine that with an over the axle track bar and you are set.

You can't run full crossover on stock D30 knuckles.

Ok so, single shear. I guess you can call it crossover.

It IS crossover. Exactly by definition. Single sheer is not a problem if done right. There are many many rigs running single sheer steering using a stock steering box and knuckles, hydro assist, and even full hydro. When you use 7/8s heims and 5/8s grade 8 bolts it is not an issue.

Tie rod, drag link, heims, jam nuts, high misalignment spacers, and all needed hardware.

Like most crossover kits it requires drilling the knuckles and pitman arm out to 5/8s and cutting off and or relocation of your sway bar mounts.

I sell the over the axle track bar, weld on axle mount, bolt on HD frame mount, and all needed hardware for 250. I could probably make a package deal.

My sway bar mounts are long gone. What would happen with the stock trac bar mounting position?

You can leave it but most choose to cut it off and clean it up as much as possible.

One of my buddies cutting off his. Dont know if you can see the remains.
