I've got the dana 44 in back, 30 in front. The front has been trussed but the rear has not. The U-joints are heavy duty kind from Napa. What else can I do to beef this up? I would like to put 37's.
Also I know my sway bar links are on wrong lol I was in a rush to get them on and wasn't paying attention.

so the rear is an xj 44 then? so to prepare for 37's you'll probably need to swap both axles. lol

You those axles to run 37s get rcvs in front and pray the r and p doesn't break

I'm going to run that size and I have a bronco d44 and ford 9in in my side yard

$1500 axle shafts in a d30 is a huge waste of money.

I think 37's on an xj 44 isnt that bad, id do it. Ive heard of ppl running bigger on the 44 so ur good there imo. With the d30 the only thing i would do is get some of the 760 u joints and buy plenty of spare shafts. No matter what u are gonna break it so id rather keep the weakest point the shafts before upgrading them and then your next weak spot is gonna be the r&p.. id rather replace a shaft then break something in the center.

37's isn't that bad if you don't go with a heavy 37.
i ran bias 36x13.5 iroks on a locked xj44 without a single worry. so i think if you were to go with say either the goodyear wrangler mtr kevlar or bfg km2 you should be fine. those are the two lightest tires i know of.

as for your d30, you should be fine as long as you leave it open. don't spend too much money on it.
just grab some spare shafts, make sure you have the larger 297 or 760 joints and not the 260's.

you can always get the d30 disco axle and run solid one piece shafts. the passenger side tube has the cast part with upper control arm mount. it's a ton stronger than the other d30, but nothing a welder and some scrap steel won't fix with the metal tube/uca mount.

What about a 35s? Would it still be the same axle problem? I planned on leaving the 30 unlocked. Also I don't really want to swap out the axles at the moment, if it means going smaller I will. I'd just like to have a couple more inches between the axles and the ground.

If you wheel like a fetus you could get away with those axles with a little beefing up. but whats the fun in that?

44 front is decent for 37s as long as you know when to let off. I would try to get something a little stronger in the rear.

Why do you want to leave the front unlocked? are you building this for looks?

I broke my front Dana 44 in half. Three a d30 in real quick and my 35's are fine. I have an upgraded gear ratio.... 4.88 and chromoly axle shafts.
