Welding up some shackles
I plan on making some Shackles I have some 1/4in plate and some 2in tubing
But what I need is a measurement from someone else shackles eye to eye and what lift amount it is (ie stock shackles, 2in shackles ect.)
Currently running teraflex revolver shackles and that's the reason I need measurements from someone else because teraflex doesn't say how much lift is provided..
If I can get a measurement from any size shackle eye to eye I can use that as a reference for where to put my holes.. I plan on making them 1.5, 2, and 2.5 lift adjustable shackles
So if someone told me there 2in lift shackles were 4in eye to eye I'd know I need holes at 3.5 4 and 4.5
Thanks for any help

i suppose.
i wouldnt go that high with shackles though.
kills your departure angle and will overwork and wear out leaf packs quicker. will give you quite the pinion angle as well (not always a bad thing) you may also have to redo your shock mounts with the rotated pinion angle (if its severe enough) ive never experimented with shackles that long so i wouldnt know.

Probly only go 1" 1.5" and 2"
Can you explain why it take 2"extra length in the shackles to create 1"of lift?
I'm still struggling to follow that logic but I'm sure if someone explained I cud catch on

the front mounting point is staying in the same spot.
the axle is (just about) halfway between those 2 points.

you can get the bushings from www.ruffstuffspecialties.com or www.barnes4wd.com as well as other places.
you want a 3" wide bushing and sleeve.
you can use tubing, but i plan on using some 1/4" plate and boxing it all in.
it has to be narrower at the frame side than the leaf side so it doesnt rub the shackle box.

oh wait i think i get what you talking about.
you talking about how far the bolt has to go thru the bushing essentially? correct?
it need to be 3in wide and the tubing size and bushing size is semi irrelevant?
or would a bigger bushing be better?
