I hear Vasoline and a latex glove works great. I learned that on the Discovery Channel.

i used rtv on the cap to seal it up. i have been deep enough to cover it and it still works fine after 3 years of abuse and going under water. otherwise the vasoline and latex glove does work for awhile

RTV the dist cap on, pop the breather valve off and add on a length of rubber tubing extending it to a high/dry area. Get a big tube of dielectric grease, and grease every electrical connection under your hood. Go ahead and do the bulb sockets too, front and rear. It's good stuff.

take doors off if your state laws allow. remove ac and make custom bracket to hold the alternator up where the ac went. i did this and never had the alternator go out because of water.
