Wanting to go bigger
I currently have a 99 xj with 33's and a rc 6.5" long arm kit. I'm wanting to go bigger and run at least 37's. If anyone can give me any ideas on how to do this please let me know as I'm new to the jeep family and I can't get a body lift from what I've heard. I've seen a kit that says body lift but I'm not too sure about it. All advice and info would really help, thanks in advance.

Depends on how much money youre willing to spend and how you wheel. But if i was to run 37's reliably i would get
Full width axles
Gears
Lockers
Brakelines
Shocks
Coils/leafs
And a custom 3/4 link setup

Yeah, you can run 37's on stock axles if you want but you'll break all the time. 35's is the magic number, I'll be running 35's on a 4" lift, my Jeep i just got has 7" of lift, and I'm going down not up.
37's are just too much for stock axles.

I plan on upgrading the axels, I'm just trying to figure out what I can do to get at least 9.5"-10" of lift. I have everything already on my 6.5" besides the bigger axels and gears. I seen 2" budget lifts and I was wondering if I can put that on with my lift already or if those are just to put bigger tires on a stock jeep only.

I would suggest learning how your suspension, drivetrain and steering work so you can answer this yourself. This way you will know what various options there are to achieve your goal instead of taking someone elses opinion.
Going big takes a lot more knowledge and equipment to do right, function well and above all else be safe.

I'm just curious how people get xj's that big. I'm used to trucks with a frame that you can body lift and do a suspension lift. I'm new to the whole jeep world and I figure its better to ask questions that I'm unsure of before I go and spend money on what I think will work.

33's or 35's are max without a LOT of work. you practically have to build yourself a whole new car. ask me how I know

If you're gonna run 1 ton axles, you don't need more lift to fit 37's, they will be much further outward from the fenders, get some bump stops to limit uptravel, don't lift it 9-10" you want to be wide and low not wide and sky high.

This too, to handle the much heavier axles you'll need to plate the unibody, it's not made for that kind of weight.

Thanks for answering my question without running around and making me wonder more. I already have 33s on it, I thought about puting 35s on but I was told that I had to upgrade the axels to run them. I figured if I'm going to do the axels why not go bigger if its possible.

if you want a 10" lift and 37" tires buy a diesel truck. a jeep Cherokee was never cut out to handle stuff like that

I wasnt trying to be an jerk or anything. When you asked about a budget boost on top of existing 6.5 long arm and didn't know if it would help/work I thought my suggestion would point you in a better direction.
If you have the funds and desire by all means go for it. As others said as well, big XJs take a lot of work and money. Steering issues, needing to strengthen the unibody, new axles, brakes, gears. If rebuilding/redesigning your whole jeep isnt what youre interested in then 35s will be the sweet spot.

What axles do you currently have? Just an FYI I'm running 38s on 6" and I'm planning on cutting a little more and dropping down to about 4-4.5" just because it's a bit top heavy on off camber stuff which can be a little scary.
