I'm planning on getting frame stiffeners soon, I was looking at HD offroad. What are your thoughts? Anybody have them?

A lot of guys in my club have them and are super happy. I actually have a set sitting in my garage waiting for me to build another XJ. Brian is a good guy and all his products are quality. The only thing I'll say, is that there are a lot of holes to plug weld.

Just making sure, I have a few dents and such in the "frame" from rocks, nothing too bad. What should I do about those?

If they're just dents, not holes, you can weld over them. Unless you're saying your frame rails look like gravel. It'll be harder to do any of the plug welds where a dent is but it should be ok. You'll need a jack to help hold it in place and to bend it to fit the unibody better. I also had to trim mine a good bit to fit where my Clayton long arm crossmember is welded on.

Do ya'll have front mid and rear, or just the middle section

I only have the middle section for now. I'll be doing the fronts before the rear. My unibody was making some spooky spooky sounds and I'm only on 33's and beat it pretty good

I ordered the full set for my last rig, still have the front and rears in my garage. the holes are a little too small and a little too many. PITA to weld I wish they would drill them out a bit bigger

big plus for the HD's is how light they are. both of the middles and maybe even the front and middles combined way less than just 1 of the ruffstuff middles. but them being such light 10ga can also be a problem. I ended up denting my HD mids too

all seem to be a pain to weld. if I had my way I'd order the T&T kit + extension and just drill my own holes in it

I had the same issue. turned my perfect fitting HD's into a lopsided pain. couldn't imagine trying to mold 3/16" to a dented frame.

So atmos, are you saying the HD stiffeners would be good for me, I live in ohio, so there aren't too many rocks, although I do play on them when I can. But I'm also plnning on caging it soon after so if I do dent them, the overall strength of the unibody should still be good, right?

10 gauge is plenty strong when coupled with the unibody sheet metal

Ruffstuff's would add unnecessary weight on your jeep.

If yours are trails only then go for ruffstuff.

If its a dd, go for HD offroad.

It isn't a DD, but I do drive it on the road,and it drives to the trails.

As I mentioned earlier, I have the middle sections as it helped make a big difference already. Ruffstuff's 3/16 thickness is overkill, but if it make you all feel warm inside then go for it.

I plan to get rear sections when I do rear bumper at same time
