That's what I was most curious about. Its just like a pulley on a super charger. I just don't understand how that would speed up its death.

It's harder on the alternator because it is spinning faster than it was designed to for any given RPM and this can shorten it's life. Just like if you put low gearing in your Cherokee and then drove it at 85 on the highway constantly...the higher RPM you would be spinning on a regular basis would reduce the life of certain engine components.

Very true and very common. This is a very well known mod that has been written up hundreds of times and they all grind some of the timing cover (where the 2 long stud/bolts for the alt bracket go through it).

Negative.

The only difference between the 2 pulleys is that the ZJ pulley has an extra groove for the 7 rib belt.

And spinning your alternator faster wasn't what killed it - the constant high load your 8 bazillion watt stereo was putting on it killed it.

So its bigger wider, not bigger diameter. Thx for clearing that up. Yea the Bazillion watts did contribute. Im done with car audio btw. Im 30 now, that was when i was in my early 20's. When it was cool to shake the car next to you at a stop light.

Heres a link to smaller pulleys.

Maybe AC vs. non-AC?

I got my mock-up bracket off a 95 with AC and it was the same as the one that came off my 97 with AC.

Only other thing I can think of is that bracket is off a Renix and not an HO?

I just answered this question over here - https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/wil...4/#post1632344.

Sorry, but I get a little frustrated - I probablyhave to answer this question about once a fortnight...
