I'm looking into building my own 3 link.
Lead Foot offered some really good info on triangulation, I appreciate it.
My question here is about upper and lower link separation.
Whats the scoop? How do I calculate what ideal separation is?
I'll be doing my upper link on the passenger side, so link placement height isn't a big concern.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

play with the 3 link calculator a bit til ya get decent numbers. just figure out where your links and mounts will fit, then fine tune it from there.
6 to 8 inches has always been accepted as ideal with a little more at the axle end, and pretty much requires floor modification to fit it. but lately with the onslaught of new aftermarket 3 and 4 links out there, less has proven to be just fine. The average wheeler wouldnt be able to tell the difference. Some of my buddies just went for the 6-8" of link separation and don't even touch the calculator. Works fine.
heres what my black xj was just for reference
