I'm new to Jeeps, and don't know much about vehicles in general, but I'm learning. Looking at buying a 99 XJ and this is one of the potentials. Can anyone tell me if this undercarriage is okay? And if not, what does it need? The dealer said the U-Joints were just replaced, but other than that, to my knowledge, the rest of what you're seeing is still on the vehicle.
Thank you for your help, it is greatly appreciated.
Looks like the frame is structurally there. Does it trac straight down the road. what bout the front rails.
Haven't driven it. I'm self employed so I'm waiting on a check. Once cashed, I'll be flying down to take a look at it and making a decision. Also not sure what you mean by front rails, I apologize.
Thank you for replying! I actually live in Greenville, SC and this Cherokee is located in Florida.
I bought my 99 in Homestead - you should be fine. Salt is kind of literally in the air the closer you get to the coast, so I'd still try to check the rear quarter panels underneath the bumper caps - crap can get trapped in there.
Hey guys,

Oh just stop showing off already.
Just kidding.
Even mine is not that clean and mine is pretty clean.
When you buy that get some PB Blaster, WD 40, motor oil, whatever, and a spray can of Fluid Film.
Douse the E-Brake adjustment with the PB Blaster (or whatever) and then seal it in with the Fluid Film.
Gunk it good.
And just leave it alone.
There is a good chance at some point you might thank me later.

from what I saw too... I would've guessed somewhere towards the coast for its life. body looks solid, just the corrosion on the leaves and parking brake components, etc. Which is minor.... the body on these is the most important and it looks pretty good.
yep. nothing to be concerned about. as for the exhaust and driveshaft, that's only from sitting. you can replace those easily enough, if it bothers you. but i'd run it.
