u joints?
so im thinkin if i swap out all of my old u joints my driveshaft vibes will go away....what would be the best u joint for me? ive got a 1996 jeep xj classic with a RE 4.5 super flex any kind of advise will help thanks guys

Lots of people use spicer u-joints. Sadly I don't think that you replacing the u-joints will have much effect on vibes. At 4.5"(bc its re more like 5.5") of lift you more than likely need a sye. I don't think a t-case drop will not help in with that much lift.

Not really, shims may help a little but it's kinda up to you on whether or not it is worth the hassle of installing them if you will be doing a sye soon.

Is the vibe felt more in your butt or more in your feet and arms? Only reason I ask is that with it somewhat concentrated at certain speeds it's possible that it's more of a steering/tire balance issue than a driveline issue. I agree that a sye is probably needed, just don't know if that's really your problem at the moment.
On a side note, a sye isn't that difficult, as long as your t-case comes out alright. Just be sure to pay close attention to the rings and gears as you disassemble it, I suggest using a sharpie to mark where it all lined up originally. The instructions they come with are pretty detailed and really good about keeping you on track, usually.

I did my sye recently and found that 90% of my vibes are caused by my front pinion angle... so much for all that work hahaha

my front ds (with a cardon joint) was shot. i thought it was the TC chain. sounded like it was stretched and would rub on stuff when in 4. but then it started to do this in 2wd and even at lower speeds. so a new shaft (85 bucks from JY) and all was well again.
edit- super easy to un/install- 4 bolts at each end of shaft to hold it to the yokes and bam! done.

I've called two off road shops near me and neither of them would take on the job of installing an SYE. Not very reassuring when I'm considering doing a hack n' tap myself. The only thing I'm worried about is cutting the out put shaft..
