I hate people that have a stinger even though they will never use it for what its meant for. Like the stingers to the JK mall crawlers. Prerunners are good looking on xjs.

Here's the skinny...what do you need it to do?
If you hit a lot of trails where you find yourself endo-ing to the point of no return, get the stinger.
If not, get the pre-runner.
Stingers serve a purpose. But most will never need it, unless you get into some serious ****. Let your usage determine what you need.

Have you looked at all bumpers like http://trailready.com/bumpers/jeep_cherokee.html or more budget http://www.dirtboundoffroad.com/jeep...t-bumpers.html and http://aresfabrication.com/model/xj/bumpers-xj/

I probably won't ever get into a situation where I would "need" a stinger bumper, but I have a lot of stuff that I don't "need", doesn't mean that I don't want it.
I really like the Hanson bumpers also and have heard some great things about their quality so will more than likely be going with their pre-runner (which I really like). I don't have the hate for the stinger as some folks seem to, but I also don't hate when people fix up jeeps to "mall crawl" either. Doesn't make any difference what folks do with their time and money. I have seen way worse ways of spending money.
Besides, I need folks to keep those old XJ's on the road and in as good of shape as possible so when I wear mine out I have a good selection to choose from.

Your question about my winch placement, no I never have had any over heating issues on the highway or on the trails at slow crawls with AC on, All my cooling system is new all stock parts. Surprised me also but only paid $40 for the bumper and had to try and its been 5 yrs now.
The place where I bought my rear bumper tire carrier, with Hi-Lift and antenna mount, hitch mount, powder coated, shipped $600 to my door. I planned to buy one of his front Crawler series winch bumpers excellent quality again and your choice of options, loaded out $560 shipped, but waited to long. He dropped the top of the line bumpers and sold entry level ones till he went out of business.

That my friend was a pretty stupid comment taking into consideration many people on this forum barely use their 4x4 at all. With your reasoning they all should just drive minivans

I never would have thought that folks would have such strong opinions about bumpers. I guess I am one that doesn't take what others do and think too seriously. I may have my opinion/preferences/feelings etc, but am never too interested in making someone else feel the exact same way and don't really care much what other folks think about what I do or like either.
I think that it would a be pretty boring world if every jeep we saw was exactly the same setup but it would probably save me some time from Instagram!
Was chatting with my 15 year old today and told him about some of the responses that I was getting. He laughed and said, "well then that settles it, we need to get the Stinger just to pi$$ people off!" i kinda like the way he thinks.
