What's a good transmission cooler that y'all recommend? Also, when you install the cooler, do you still let the trans. fluid flow through the normal radiator as normal or do you bypass the normal radiator and run it through just the trans. cooler?

2 schools of thought on this.
Some say run it in series with your rad as it will help bring the trans fluid up to operating temp faster.
Others (Like me) think you should bypass the rad and run the cooler seperate.
I have the heavy duty towing package on my 00 from the factory and it is run seperate. Chyrsler thinks it should be that way.
And I live where it's 10 months of hockey and 2 months of lousy skating.

Sorry forgot first part. Just about anything you can steal from the bone yard or just about any manufacturer. Funny some of them are built here in the Great White North. Try to install it away from the rad. It already has enough problem with the AC condenser in front.

My .02 on it I bypassed my factory cooler. And I'm cheap so I went to my local junk yard and pulled one off a mid 90s Chevy 3/4 ton truck. It's big but still fits in my grill. I crawl up hills and have not had a trans overheating problem since installed. On a second note I was having problems before the install. So the new cooler is working perfect!

My AC condenser won't be a problem... I'm getting rid of it entirely and putting an aftermarket fan up front in it's place.
So y'all just recommend bypassing the radiator-tranny cooler and running straight to the separate tranny cooler? Would it be overkill or bad voodoo to run through both?
The In-the-radiator transmission cooler actually helps to warm up the trans fluid slightly on cold weather startup driving.........to a point.
Then it is needed to cool the fluid to roughly the temp of the water in the radiator tank. Without this, your trans fluid temps would quickly top 280 degrees and beyond. Some people who add an aftermarket cooler choose to just bypass the factory cooler. This is the much less complicated method, and if you go this route, most cooler manufacturers suggest going 2 sizes bigger when choosing your aftermarket cooler.
I plan on installing an aftermarket cooler on mine, and I plan on still using the cooler in the radiator, then run the fluid through the aftermarket cooler, then back to the trans.

I was told that its best to run it with the radiator as well. Having the trans fluid go thru the radiator first and then thru the cooler back to the trans.
