transfer case question
ok guys/gals my question is what transfer case could i throw on the back of my aw4 in my 99 that would give me passanger side drop? i got a steal on full width axles and was to good to pass up. Also if there is a transmisson that would bolt to the 4.0 like a 700r4 or turbo 350? This will not be driven on the road just trying to get my ducks in a row before she takes up space in the garage.
thanks, austin

dana 300 , from a cj . but you may need a adapter ? i know people flip them in xj's for drivers drop . so they must fit, you just wouldnt need to flip it , in cj they are made for pass. drop.you can also do a 4 to 1 low range in them. nothing wrong w/ using the aw4 its a strong tranny.

Only reason is its a built axle and im getting it for cheap. After a lot of research last night just gonna buy a Ford axle for the front and sell the Dana 44 from the Chevy. But have to buy as a set my buddy doesn't wanna separate unfortunately.

Don't consider the 700r4 as an option. I'd take an AW4 over that any day. The 350 would be find in stock form for a light buggy, but if you're looking for a good reasonably sized auto trans it's the th400 hands down. But I don't see any reason to get rid of the AW4. Put a nice cooler on it and it will stand up to a lot of abuse.
Check novak knowledge section. You can use their adapter and mate D300 to AW4 for like $200 probably. Keep it simple. You've got a nice pile of parts going, should be a good build for cheap!

37 to a 40 at most. Mostly sand Hills and the occasional rocks up at Drummond Island basically and the local off road Park. It's locked front and rear at the moment with 35 x 15.5 wide super swampers. Mind you this won't be drove down the road.

You can't just flip and axle and use reverse cut gears. Reverse cut gears are for a high mounted pinion and will not work in a low pinion housing. Just flipping a diff over does not make it a high pinion. It will make the whole diff work in reverse though. If that were the case everyone would be flipping their explorer 8.8 diffs when they install them to make them high pinion and swap the gears for 8.8 reverse cut gears.
