I like the 242 personally cause of the full time 4x4 option. But its a weaker case overall and less upgradable. I actually have both a 242 and 231 and can swap them when ever LOL.

People always give the 242 crap but mine has held up fine. So much in fact that I kept it and bolted it to my 5 speed when i swapped it in. I love my full time

Mines been fine also, I love the full time option. I figured I shouldnt be breaking the tcase anytime soon since this is my dailydriver and I don't do anything extreme with it. If I chose to go with something more extreme later on I might swap back out to a 231.

231 when i 4x4 its locked in the 242 has a full time setting only applys 4x4 when rear traction is lost and its a weaker case go with 231
