I cant seem to figure this out on my own so I'll ask you guys(yes I searched) I have a 2000 xj with a Full Traction 6in long arm lift with ACOS so i figure I'm in the 8in lift range. My jeep is ALL over the road and I think i tracked it down to a worn trac bar bushing and my Rusty's UTK steering seems to roll bad from the pitman arm TRE and the knuckle TRE's. It rolls BAD and i think that is really the main cause of the wandering. I can grab the steering stabalizer and twist the entire steering system and that causes my pitman arm to move a good 1/2 to 3/4in. every time. I was thinking of switching to a heim joint set up like Rusty's OTK but I didnt want to do the whole welding and set up. My real question is....do i really need to relocate the trac bar mount to the top of the axle or can i keep my current set up and just install the new drag link and tie rod with heims? Would this help cure the wandering steering? The current set up rolls BAD(i cant stress that enough) and that is with new TRE's. I hope i was clear enough with the description.

if you put a tie rod on like your thinking then the tie rod will hit your sway bar links and your trac bar mount. i did what your thinking of and i had to cut all that stuff off and start from scratch. it makes a fun little weekend project and isnt horribly expensive. i just made my brackets out of plate.
driving without a steering stabilizer isnt bad at all, i cant notice a difference with it on or off.

Here are some phone pics...maybe that will help a little? Can you notice the amount of roll that I'm getting? The movement you see is from turning the steering wheel side to side. It rolls this much before the wheels turn.

Another question...maybe im just tired(wife and i just had a baby boy to go along with our 2 girls) What bushing do i need for the upper trac bar mount? I believe its from full traction. I went to their website and i couldnt find a bushing for the XJ kit. Is there a certain size or are they all the same? The bottom link is a heim joint. Should i replace that as well as the upper bushing?

i agree with frank on this one,
sorry i misunderstood you, i thought you had a stock tie rod set up and were asking what you needed to do to put that set up on your jeep

Sorry I wasn't clear. My mistake guys. I have rusty's OTK steering now as you can see in the pics. The one I'm talking about is Rusty's OTK with heims. It's on their website for about $490 I believe.

i run ORO Uturn steering no cutting and it moves the arm in on the knuckles so theres no tire rubbing issues little more costly but a lot stronger
