I was wondering is there a way to set your distributer and timing without a timing light.

 

timing is not adjustable on 4.0s any way index the dist correct and install spark plug wire in correct order your good to go...ecm controls timing

 

Ok but the guy I bought it from put in the distributer and im not sure if he might put it 180 out. I need to find tdc and location of dist and then set spark plugwires.

 

first set the number cylinder on tdc on the compression stroke pop off the distributor cap and see where the rotor is then you can see. also check your harmonic balencer theres a small notch on it hard to see take the elec. fan trust me its a lot easier the notch should be right on zero if not your timings off
