Are you talking about the ID of the hose?

That hose is tricky
I put an inline filler on that hose, and found that the hose on my 89 Renix was 1 1/2 on one end, and 1 1/4 on the other end

I ended up getting the 1 1/4 filler and cutting the hose by the middle

If your hose is like mine, you can verify if it is like mine, by measuring the outside diameter of the hose while is still attached at both ends, once you know what are you looking for it is easier to spot the diameter difference.

What is the reason for adding one there in that location, to see how much the cooling system is cooling the water going back into the engine?
