Default Taxes build thread

1988 xj
(D30 BA10/5 231 d35) for now
So I found a 94 d30 3.55 gears for $80
Also found a 2000 8.8 3.73 gears limited slip for $125
Found a 8.8 mini spool $75
I'll need 3.73 gears an carrier for the front
I'll need to get the swap kit for the 8.8 also $225
I found iro truss kit for the 8.8 bt do I really need the truss
Money is getting to be a little tight right now so is it really necessary to have the truss
My xj is MAINLY a dd bt I do hit some trails and see what my jeep does
I already ordered adj trac bar $140
And extended brake lines $90

I would hold off on the truss for now if money is tight- It will be easier to do before putting the axle on but I doubt you are going to need it. The 8.8 is a pretty strong axle. What size tires are you going to be running?

I would not worry about it then. You might want to go deeper on your gears rather than worrying about a truss for now.

For 33s your wasting a lot of money dicking around with going 3.73s.
Keep your d30, adn pick up a 29 spline 8.25

Don't waste the money on an 8.8 either if your only running 33s. Sure..its an upgrade from an 8.25...but at 33s I doubt you'll see carnage with an 8.25

Just go buy 3.55 Dana 30 and a 29 spline 8.25 and regear when you have the $

I want disk brakes in the rear my stopping power sucks right now
Maybe in a long time when I get another truck and make my xj a trail rig only then I'll put 35 37
On it bt for now I'm only running 33
I wouldn't mind a8.25 bt I don't really want to convert it to disk and everyone want a crazy price for one already converted

Yes so 175 and 125 300 total for the 8.8
Roughly 275-300 for a 8.25 with disk
So max 25 dollars for a way Stronger axle
Really 300 for an axle is too much money that's what I'll send either way
