Default SYE and new driveshaft?

I'm wanting to put 1.5" spacers on my jeep from a 4.5" lift. With this 6" lift would I need a Slip Yoke Eliminator and/or a new driveshaft? What exactly does a SLE do and what would happen if I don't buy that or a new driveshaft? Would it help if I just put axle shims in the back?

Sye keeps the yoke at the tc from sliding out especially when flexing out on the trails(Slip yoke eliminator). A cv drive shaft will help with vibrations at that height. You can also do a "hack n tap"

Any lift over 3-3.5 in your really supposed to have a SYE. so yea go get one. It prevents the driveshaft from popping out and also will reduce driveline vibrations.

at 6" you will need one. an SYE is also known as a tail shaft conversion. you open the transfer case and install a new rear output shaft and a yoke. you will need a junk yard CV shaft (aka cherokee front driveshaft $37). and shim the axle so the pinion is pointed directly at the new output shaft (parallel driveshaft and pinion -2*)

I dont think any XJ shaft will work at 6" Im at 3" and did the SYE today. I got 28.6" shaft from the JY and its too short. Im gonna need a 30.6" For 6 " your gonna need like 33" prolly. Look for a ZJ driveshaft.

The shaft I have is one of the shortest available. It's 34" fully extended, 28.6" collapsed. I need a 30.6" collapsed length shaft it seems.
