Default Summer Overheat Problem

Hi All, 2 quick questions. I have a 1999 Cherokee 4.0. I wanted to burp the cooling system by making the radiator valve mod through the computer temperature sensor hole on the thermostat housing. As shown in picture 2 (provided courtesy of "Another Freakin' Jeep Website") What I currently have is shown in the first picture. It looks like I have a "92 thermostat housing with the sensor attached to my "99. Okay, Can I just temporarily remove and replace sensor to bleed the engine cooling system? Since the hole is in permanent use. I really wanted to make the mod though.
