Default steering box brace

Anyone running one of these. I keep seeing ads for them everywhere, but no real info, besides its supposed to keep the box more secure. I did a search on a couple forums on here and couldnt find any information about anyone talking about them.
So is anyone using one? Any pros/cons? Is it really needed, etc..??

Thanks

If you are running large tires or off road regularly yes it is a very good idea to have one. The area where your steering box mounts is thin metal and has a tendency to crack and break. What ends up happening is your steering is able to move and causes play in the steering and if left unfixed the can cause steering failure.

Ya I kind of knew what it was designed for, I was just surprised that I couldnt really find any threads on it in any of the forums on this board. I kind of figured it would be a popular subject, along with the weakness of our unibody.

you talking about the one that goes behind the box or the one that goes from the box to the passenger side frame?

i put in a jcr brace that goes behind the box about 4 months ago. my steering felt less sluggish after the install. it's not a miracle cure but it helps. i have no experience with the cross frame stiffener.

Anytime you are running larger tires the more you can brace your steering box the better off you are. [ saves on frame repairs ] I'm running the cross frame brace with the ZJ tie rod set up it works great, really firmed up my steering, with 35 X 12.5 r15s.
Before the brace and tie rod upgrade rocks and real deep snow was sort of trial and error. I would have to try and turn and sometimes I would need to back out and do the turning, then drive forward again.

They both help. Especially with bigger tires. I have the TNT customs inner brace. I use to run the m.o.r.e. brace.
