Hi everyone!
Here's my problem. I have a 2000 Limited XJ that I just finished a 2" lift on. Its now running 15" Cragar V5's wrapped with 30" Firestone A/T's. Just after start up, I back out of my garage and crank the steering wheel to the left to position myself so that I can get out of my driveway. During these last turns of the steering wheel before I hit full lock (I don't lock the steering out completely), the steering makes a funny squeaking sound during turning. After I even out and give the XJ time to warm up, The sound is not there anymore when I take turns (even right after when I pull out of my driveway). It sounds like running a squeegee or your finger across a wet pane of glass. Could this be attributed to the power steering needing to build up pressure to move the heavier/larger tires? Or could my power steering just be going bad? What about my seals? I posted this in the advanced tech section because it only began happening after I put the lift/new rims and tires on.
Thanks for the help!
George

I had the same issue after my 2" lift. Turns out it was the new steering stabilizer I put in at the same time as the lift. I put a bit of lubricant on the bushings and the stabilizer shaft and it went away for awhile. It came back after a couple of weeks. I think I just got a POS stabilizer, so I'm going to replace it soon and see if that makes my issue go away for good.

Not totally sure. That might be it too. I'll start it up today and have my friend keep an eye on the engine when I turn.
Thanks for the help!

PS pump probably getting tired and now it has to work harder. Try changing the fluid in it and see if that helps. Use PS fluid not ATF.
And a side note a tired PS pump can lower your mpg and cost a couple HP

I bet the belt is slipping.
Is it more like a squeal?
It'll take 2 seconds to tighten it. You need a 14mm wrench and a 14mm socket on a 12" extension.

Thanks guys,
checking all suggestions, probably going to start replacing some of these old tired parts to begin with- fan belt is really old as well as water pump, etc., I'll also grease the steering stabilizer. I'll be back with updates!
