I have WJ 60/40 split fold rear seats in my xj. I've had the interior out recently to do monstaliner/dynaliner/new carpet. When putting it back in, I had a thought of using the 40% split from two seats in the rear with a rear center console. Problem is with zj/WJ seats as far as I know, the 40 was always on the same side, so the wheel well curve will be on the wrong side on the pass side section.

Does anyone know of vehicles that are similar to the size of the XJ that had 40/20/40 split fold seats? Then you could take both 40s and mount them on either side.

I suppose another WJ 40 split section could be made to work since you have to trim some of the seat around the wheel well anyways. It would just mean drilling different holes than I currently have and mounting another center seat bracket next to the wheel well, but I guess it could be done.

I remember a few years ago people were trying to do rear captains seats, but the rear floor was basically just too tall. But with 80% of a rear grand chero seat, you'd have some nice room in the center over the tranny hump for a second console. Might even be able to retrofit a front console into the rear.

trim the 60 side and have it sewn back together?

Problem is on the 60 side, the center mount is basically a post that it slides on to, and hard mounts laterally. I don't think you could fabricate that mount again into the plastic of the seat.

Maybe look at a ranger or s10 split bench seat some had it.
