Default Speedo Cable Help! (WTF IS THIS)

Hi guys,

Just climbed under the jeep to replace the speedo cable on my XJ after breaking it replacing the gauge cluster....

Anyways wtf is this part? It attaches to the transfer case and then to the speedo cable. It has 2 wires coming out of it. I traced the wires and they don't seem to go to anything... Just cut off.

88 XJ with NP231 if it matters.

Thanks!

Someone spliced in a makeshift speed sensor. Just take the adapter off and attach the cable directly to the tcase fitting.

No I don't. But I was thinking that it may be for cruise if I did have it? Maybe if I had the upgraded model.
