Small lift advice

Hey guys, I plan to do a VERY small lift on my 2000 xj, I just wanna do a 1.5-2" shackle/spacer lift to clear the next size up tires. My question is Will my stock shocks be fine with this? I'll be replacing them in the next year or so when I go to a legit lift and everything but for now I don't need that. So will I need new shocks or should I be fine?

I tried searching but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

Thanks,
David

That didn't answer my question... I've read that post before, it goes back and forth if shocks/extenders are needed...

All the threads I've read here and else where dealing with your question are saying the same thing. I've asked it myself. Seems the condition of you're existing suspension components (oem) is the deciding factor. What size tire you wanting to go up to?

Just buy the RE 2" budget boost with shocks. It's like $250 and comes with everything you need

Hey David,

I ran into similar issues with my thread asking about a shackle vs spring budget lift. I ended up going to another site to get my answer. :dunno:

You can retain your stock shocks, just make sure they are functioning properly and that they will get you through til' you are ready to do a full lift. I ran a budget lift with stock shocks and wheeled with it no problem. Best of luck!

I kept the stock shocks on my MJ with the 2" budget boost. Everything is still stock on it except the RE coil spacers and Chevy lowering shackles. Works fine for a dd and mild wheeling.

OK cool, thanks guys, I'll mainly be dd'ing this jeep so Yea that's what I was looking for. Now would you recommend the lowering shackles? Or should I get actual xj lift shackles?

It doesn't really matter what shackles you get, any shackle longer than stock will provide you with lift. I used the GM lowering shackles on my MJ, and used some RC shackles on my XJ.
