Slip Yoke Eliminator Debate
I had this posted in the wrong place, so here we go......
I'm doing a 3" Rough Country Lift. Running 30" tires. I have seen about 1/2 of the people say I should get a Slip Yoke Eliminator, the other have say it's not needed unless you go more than 3" on the lift. I also have been told do a T-Case drop in lieu of the SYE (which I already was going to do anyway).
So my question to you all is: SLE on a 3" lift or not?
Also, anyone who could point me in the direction for a good SLE kit would be great!

You won't know until after the lift is in. Some people that lift as little as 2" end up needing one. While others lift 5" and don't need one. It's really luck.
As far as a great sye kit look into the jb conversion sye.

you could probably 'get away with' a tcase drop the whole time. just test it out and see if you have bad vibes
my buddie's TJ is on 4.5" lift, 1" body, 33's, 1" tcase drop, D35 and he's been beating on it pretty good for years
that being said he has horrible vibes and constantly battles with DW.

3in of lift and you wont need one if your pinion angle is correct. Most leaf packs come with a shim to get the angle right.

Another thing to look at is t-case. Most 231 t case will have vibes before the 242. But there ate more upgrade options for 231.
Lift before you spend the money on SYE or hack n tap.
Drive it prior to tcase drop too you may not need it and they suck anyway lol.

On my '01 XJ, I have a 3" RC lift with 31" tires. I don't have a vib and have been running it for about 14-15 months now. I got a SYE just in case the vib rears its ugly head but will eventually install it with or without the vib.
I decided on the SYE instead of the drop kit cuz I don't like the idea of the motor shifting which will get in the way when I replace my clutch fan to a Taurus fan.

To help you out, I have a fresh installed 3" RC Series 2 AAL kit with new LCA's and I am NOT using a SYE or a T-case drop, and I have zero vibes what so ever.
This is on my 93 XJ 4.0 HO with 231 case.
It really is Jeep to Jeep. Some need them some don't but at 3" I don't think you will need a SYE.

I have a RC 3" lift 31" tires. Had vibes. TC drop fixed it. My only problem with the TC drop is the 1" clearance I lost in the middle.

Here is my $.02
On the YJ, I did a 4" lift and TC drop bracket. Did it vib after? Yes. Did I align it? Yes. So, I did the SYE and the driveshaft (Adams Driveshaft). Did it cure it? No. Did it improve it? Yes.
On the XJ, it had the 2.5" BB lift. Did it vib? Yes. It was installed by previous owner. I since then installed a 4.5" lift with TC drop (1" drop). Does it vib? Yes. About the same? More of less.
Is the YJ I had with SYE and drive shaft vib as much as my XJ with none? Pretty dang close.
Here is my take. I think some say it needs it why other don't is because the vib bugs some as other it doesn't. With the SYE & driveshaft most figure they have $1,000 in it and just call it and forget about it.
Inconclusion, do the lift, and see if it "bugs" you. Then add it if it does.

one thing i haven't seen people mention is the transmission mount... if it's worn badly it will drop the output shaft down. you should make sure that mount is good or replace it before deciding if you need a sye. mine was shot and still had really bad vibes but i was at 5.5". a new mount probably raised it over an inch
