Default to shroud or not to shroud

I just finished installing my electric fan upgrade and it does'nt seem to be cooling all that well. I have'nt made a shroud for it and was wondering just how important it was. If it makes a real difference do I need to seal it up really well around the fan?
Any tips or advice is welcome as usual, thank you.

it makes a difference. Can you feel air pulling thru on the front side of the radiator?...maybe your fan just sucks...or doesnt suck enough. A piece of paper should stick to the radiator when placed near it

Make sure your fan pulls enough cfm.... If not your upgrade could be a downgrade

I'll have to try the paper test. Somehow I really dont think the paper will hold. It seems to not cool all that much better than the old stock fan. So am I to understand that taking the time to make a shroud is worth while?

With an electric fan u don't really need a shroud since the fan actually mounts to the radiator. You need to check the cfm rating on the fan u installed, I would be willing to bet that its less than what your mechanical fan pulls

I was told it was 2350cfm. Is that enough? Is there any way I could confirm this by lookin at it?

Think that's a little low.... Id say u need something closer to 3000cfm... Not 100% sure what the mechanical fan pulls, I'm sure u can do a search on here and find out what it is.... Personally if i wanted to go to an electric fan over the mechanical I wouldnt use anything less than 3500-4000 cfm
