Default Shock as steering stabilizer?

I have these nice exspensive shocks and I was wondering if there was a possible way to mod them to be my steering stabilizer? They are even adjustable for stick of smooth ride. any ideas?

Are you trying to fix death wobble?

I like the idea. I mean if you have one just laying around why not. I have an extra shock also and my steering stabilizer is TKO'ed. I will also look for ways to make this happen. I have to look at it tommorow.

Not true, steering stabilizers actually do help with steering, especially on uneven surfaces. They however are not the cause or solution to death wobble.

I have a jeep, it is neither aligned or tightened haha. but I put a new one on not too long ago and noticed a massive improvement. was just hoping this exspensive shock would be even better then what I've got. there's got to be a way..

Well shocks have most resistance when you pull on them don't they? You can push a shock down pretty fast, but try and pull it up and it's almost impossible. Don't steering stabilizers have constant shock resistance both when you push them down and pull them up? Idk that's what i thought the difference between shocks and stabilizers.

So in theory, if you hooked up your shock to the stabilizing brackets and tried it out, if your wheels jerked one way it would stop them from going that direction, but if they jerked the other way, it wouldn't stop it as much.

Does this make sense? I think thats what would happen but idk what do you guys think??

If the shock is charged though shouldn't it shoot back out?

They do improve/tighten the steering. But they are not a solution for a death wobble problem.

THey slowly shoot back, but try pulling it and making it go faster and that's when the shock actually engages. It is almost impossible to pull back up any faster than the shock is already going.

Just went out to check. the shock is too long it went past the hole in the draglink. gotta be a way to get it on.

Gas shocks or spring assisted shocks extend on their own. Oil shocks are compressed until they have some weight on them.

I said they are not need if you are aligned and tight. didnt say anything about them helping on uneven roads. do they help? possibly but I work for a jeep Chrysler dealer and we rarely suggest replacing stabilizers on cherokee's that come throw our bays.
